Silk

Wonderful, exotic silk! First produced and coveted by the Chinese as early as 3500 BC, silk is considered precious due to its incredible strength and lustrous texture. Originally the exclusive reserve for Chinese emperors, silk soon became a major trading item and made its way to other countries along the Silk Road. China is still the world’s largest producer of silk with India the second at approximately one fourth the production of China’s.

Silk is produced by a number of insect larvae, but it is Mulberry Silk from the silkworm Bombyx Mori that’s most highly prized. Yes, Chaotic Fibres has Mulberry Silk along with Tussah and other interesting forms of this magical fibre.
