Tussah Silk Top
Tussah silk is produced from the cocoon of the Tussah moth, a large, originally wild moth from Southern China that has been more recently bred to improve silk production. This silk has been prized by the Chinese for 2000 years but was harvested only from the wild for centuries. Keep those tussahs away from your garden! Unlike the Mulberry silk producing Bombyx mori moths that are completely reliant on humans for their food, tussah moths can escape and create their own colonies in the wild. Tussah, like other silk, does not felt on its own but it’s a fabulous embellishment in feltmaking.
